Returning for a fourth year to focus on a segment of the
regulated industry that impacts people where they live and that create
significant compliance problems in many states. This course will take a
holistic look at regulating the structural pest control industry. Topics to
include: urban IPM, pesticide use in and around schools, revisiting State
IPM/Schools programs, urban entomology (current pest hot spots),
relationships with CDC and State Public Health Departments, HVAC systems,
mold control, interactions with laboratories and mosquito misters. We are
looking for successful structural outreach programs that states have
developed, and how they might be shared with a wider audience. We will also
look at legislative and regulatory remedies to structural problems.
